Pastor Moacir Weirich

Rev. Moacir Weirich was born and grew up in Brazil, where he studied theology at the Escola Superior de Teolgia. He was ordained at Evangelical Church of the Lutheran Confession in Brazil. He arrived in Newark, NJ in 1997 to serve together with his wife, Rev. Maristela Freiberg, a starting ministry of the ELCA. In 2009 St. Stephan’s Grace Community was organized and incorporated as a new congregation of the ELCA. Settled in the heart of the Ironbound and housed in a church building built in 1874, St. Stephan’s Grace Community is a congregation that worships in English, Portuguese and Spanish, honoring the legacy of a church that holds a strong legacy in working with immigrants. Grounded in the Holy Scriptures and its call to love one another and do justice, St. Stephan’s Grace Community has an extensive and deep relation to the surrounding community and works in partnership with many organizations and partner congregations. Together we journey to follow God’s call. All are welcome!
